Depression. Anxiety. Mental illness. Suicide. These are not topics we typically talk about openly. Food for Thought hopes to change that. Our vision is to bring people together in an annual event with food + music + speakers to change the conversation on mental health while raising funds for local suicide prevention and bereavement programs.
Things unfortunately will continue to look a little different this year… but the show must go on! October 25th to 30th, we are going DIGITAL.
We will host a full week of virtual events including THIS:
RUN FOR LIFE
A virtual marathon where you can pick any distance (or activity) you are comfortable with, collect donations and get it done whenever and however you like (run, walk, bike, sit-in, skip, moonwalk, dance). No matter where you are in our community, let us know that you’re participating from October 25th-30th by tagging #foodforthoughtboq
REAL TALK 2.0
For the second year, Food for Thought will be back with our Real Talk Series.
Online content from real people discussing their mental health, suicide loss journeys.
Each day we will post a video of some telling their story of how suicide, mental illness, and anxiety and how it impacted their journey of recovery.
We are pleased to confirm that Sarah Routhier will be joining us to tell her story and why she wrote her book, “Don’t Forget Your Roots”.
We will be posting video clips as they become available.
LIVE COOKING DEMO RETURNS
Wednesday afternoon enjoy a live cooking demo & giveaway featuring Chef Matt Demille.
…but will there be gummy bears this year? Surely some hot maple….? And definitely some hot topic conversations about mental health!
