WHAT IS THE YOUTH EMPLOYMENT WELLNESS PROGRAM ( YEW ) ?

The Youth Employment Wellness (YEW) Program is an 8-week initiative designed to help young people ( 15-30 )  with disabilities or other barriers to employment, develop the skills, confidence, and self-awareness needed to succeed in the workforce or return to school.

Through engaging workshops, hands-on activities, and practical tools, participants will gain valuable insights into career preparation, mental health, and self-advocacy. 

CERTIFICATIONS

Participants are provided the opportunity to gain certifications, contributing to their employability and allowing them to continue to grow their resume in a supported environment.  Certificates provided during the program include : 

 - CPR and First Aid Training 
-  WHMIS 
-  ASIST ( Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training )
- True Colors 

WELLNESS COACHING

Teaching the importance of mental wellness and regulation in the workplace is a core component of the YEW program.  Resiliency is built through self-awareness and an ability to cope under various pressures. We give participants the tools they need to be resilient in the workplace and manage day to day challenges they may face.

- Managing Powerful Emotions in the Workplace 
- Interpersonal wellness 

RESUME DEVELOPMENT AND EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT

Participants leave the program with a working resume and cover letter and receive support strengthening interview skills. Education is provided on how to navigate the technologies needed to be successful during the job search process and taught networking skills in order to strengthen professional relationships. 

At the conclusion of the program, participants receive support connecting with potential employers with the intention of securing long term employment.
