Great St. James
Long term & transitional housing.
Opening: Spring 2022
Initial Investment Provided by the Federal and Provincial Governments
Construction began on the Great St. James project in September of 2019. Great St. James is a new building located within the City of Belleville, along a public transit line. It will consist of a mix of 32 housing units (affordable and market) with mixed apartment types – primarily 1 bedroom / studios but with at least 3 three bedroom units that will be used by the Enrichment Centre-HPE as part of their transitional housing program. The 16 affordable units will be available to other partner agencies to refer and support tenants who may need additional assistance with wholly independent living. There are also 16 market rent units making the building an inclusive environment.
Great St. James will be fully accessible and include smart technology, an office space for use by partner agencies, a shared community hub with kitchen for cooking classes or tenant-run cafe and an outdoor patio area. Great St. James has a No Smoking policy within the building, including individual units. Designated smoking areas outside the building will be provided.
Affordable units will work to a goal of 80% of average market rent and will work with Hastings County to secure rent subsidies for its tenants experiencing deep poverty.
Great St. James is owned by All-Together Housing and Springale Development and will be managed under the Quinte Community and Housing First Partnership model.
